Annual report: 2011

1. SIX Disha students attended the Heritage fest "Youthopia" and took part in singing.

2. Internal and external examinations for the basic 'computer' course completed. New batch started from June 15, 2011.

3. PARAMPARA's paper bag making going on in full swing !!

4. Summer camp was a huge success!! Thanks to all the teachers and J.D.Birla Bsc Students who organized it! Mask making, making & decorating pen holders, sand painting, making frames, making wall hangings,making fancy envelopes,painting pots,making & eating chips chat,dancing and having a party on the last day, every bit of it the Disha children loved and enjoyed thoroughly!!

5. This year 23 children from the primary section were admitted to "Svarna", an English-medium school that runs under the guidance of Barry O' Brien.

Disha at Cannes Film Festival!

Disha is very proud of our very own star 'Krish Gupta' who has featured in the movie "Raju" that has been  selected for the Cannes Film Festival! We thank Taranjit Kaur the casting director and Max Zähle the director of "Raju" ...

The room, if it can be called one, measures somewhere between six feet by seven feet. The two sides are taken up by a television set and other items of daily use.

Stacked between the over-stuffed corners are a school satchel and two badminton racquets betraying some cheer amidst the otherwise drab surroundings.

A feather in Disha's cap

The Calcutta Ladies Study Group this year chose Disha Foundation as the NGO in Calcutta for their prestigious award. His Holiness the Dalai Lama conferred the award upon Ms Neena Singh.
